Excel 2000: Crashes after a short period of time, no matter what file is open

Nathan Binneboese

I have run across a problem where a user is working with
a excel 2000 file and after a period of time, no longer
than 40 minutes, excel will perform an illegal operation
and crash. Thus far, I have looked at google groups, and
here for a solution, but none has presented it self.

Here is the drwtsn32 error:

Application exception occurred:
App: (pid=1400)
When: 1/24/2004 @ 09:38:20.633
Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

I have tried doing a repair to office, uninstalling
excel - reinstalling excel, and uninstalling -
reinstalling office. I would rather avoid wiping the
system and starting from scratch.

If anyone has a suggestion or has experienced this
problem in the past, please email me, I am very
interested to learn of a solution.

I am having the exact same problem with one of my users
too. In addition to what you have done, I've run check
disk, defrag, unistalled W2K sp4 and reinstalled it. Still
has no affect.

There are 4 users using these spread sheets. Two have had
problems and 2 have not. The 2 that have not use local
printers. So I took one of the local printers and gave it
to one of the people having problems and that user claims
to have no more problems. Unfortunantly we do not have any
more local printers.
