ewf

i have ewf on CF, fba runs perfectly according to the log
ewfmgr and ewfmgr c: looks perfect, i did not run
fbreseal.

if i delete the ewf partition using etprep. i get the error
"Failed getting protected volume configuration with error
1.".

if i donot remove the ewf partition and reseal the image
and copy it to a new cf, i get the error "Failed getting
protected volume configuration with error 1."

the strange thing is, that i already build working images,
but it looks like, that after installing QFE its not
possible to build good images any more.

i read somewhere that if ewf does not find any ewf
partition, ewf configuration is read from the registry?
(where) HKLM/ControlSet1/services/ewf/parameters has only
an empty key to Volume0

is there a defined way from the state
"post fba - pre reseal" to deployed image.

I am trying to install the QFE (Hotfix Q823025) as described in the word doc
you attached to your post.
and when running it I get an error message:
A new platform object needs to be installed before this update can be
installed. Please download the latest platform update from
<http://www.microsoft.com/embedded> and install it before attempting to
install this QFE.

Setup cannot continue.

What is this platform update they are refering to?

I have XP embedded SP1 installed onto a windows 2000 machine.

This question is more appropriate for MS, but have you installed Q811279
before installing Q823025.

Also have you installed other QFE's to fix some security issues.

Best regards,
Slobodan

David,

If you look further down the page where you downloaded the Q823025 from
you'll see the instructions call out that Q811279 needs to be installed
before any other QFE's can be.

Hope this helps,

You can protect only one partition without EWF partition.

that was the solution, it looks like ewf does not write
the registry keys if you have more than one, which results
in a failure.
i inserted the keys and it worked perfectly, but this
leads to the next question, might it be possible to change
the protected volume just by changeing the arcpath.

Yes, you can do that :)
