event viewer shows no data

Starting recently, our Win2K Server (domain, terminal
services) shows no data in the event viewer.
When we initially go into event viewer it shows 2000
entries on the top, but displays none of them. If I go
through the various folders it shows 0 events, then going
back to the first one, it now shows zero.

I had similar trouble, and couldn't bring the events up to show..
"Clearing" all logs started the Event Viewer working again..

The temporary fix;
You might try changing the file properties to "Overwrite as needed"

Then; Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Services|Event Log Service|General,
set the "Startup Type:" to "Disabled" restart the pc, then delete (or move)
the corrupt *.evt file(s) from %windir%\system32\config then set the Event
Log Service "Startup Type:" back to "Automatic", restart for effect.

The more permanent fix;
