errtor 633

I'm back. Almost 1 year later and still no solution (that I can find) to the
error 633 message that has plagued so many for so long. Getting ready for a
holiday trip, and will only have dial up access. Last year I ended up
borrowing a friends dinosaur laptop so I had connectivity while on the road.
Is it going to be anopther borrowed notebook holiday season, or has anyone
figured this out?

Thr RUB: After getting broadband service for laptop with internal modem,
onbvoard modem will not connect as previously. Get error 633 message when
attempting to use dial up. Tried the telephone.ini fix. Removed
uninmstalled and reinstalled modem drivers. There are no PDAs connected
either.

Has anyone made any progress? Is there a work around? Will buying a PCMCIA
modem work or is this a waste of money? What about a USB modem - Will there
still be a conflict? Would appreciate comments from anyone trying these
workarounds.

A USB modem may not use any interrupt. A PCMCIA modem may use an
interrupt already assigned to its ports. I can't verify either of these
though; I don't have a laptop.
