Errors Burning DVDs

I am aware that Windows's CD burner does not burn to DVDs, so I am forced to
use a 3rd party program. Having tried various types of DVDs, on different
speeds, it will consistently at some point come up with an error, usually
"Cannot write to DVD due to ..." or "During verify one or more of the files
did not match the refernce. Please retry". It never has errors burning CDs.

Info:
CD/DVD Drive: Lite-On DVD+RW
DVD disc types: Mueller DVD+R 8x
TDK DVD+R 4x
Program used to burn DVDs: Sonic RecordNow DX v4.6 & Simple Backup

Can someone please help resolving this issue? Is this isn't a hardware
related problem, sorry for the incorrect newsgroup.

Thank you for any help in advance. I can provide more information if
neccessary.

(Note: Cross-post from General (or close enough -.-)

You have just stated my exact problem - Sonic was pre-installed, CDs do burn
fine and out of 10 DVDs burnt so far, only one has worked. I usually disagree
when people bag out programs I use, but for once I totally agree.

Every attempt I have made so far to update the product has failed. Using the
links from inside the program indicates something is wrong with my network
connection (if so, how am I posting on theses newsgroups then?)
Every attempt to look for it online led me to register tthe product. Then
upon every registration, I am informed of a service error 500 in which the
link could not be processed and the system administrators have been informed
and will resolve the error "shortly". Shortly? It's been a week now.

Sonic have appaling customer support - Nero and Norton Ghost are now looking
like they're worth the investment.

All help appreciated, thanks in advance.

I also have Sonic which was preinstalled by Dell. CDs burn fine but I've yet to
get a DVD I've burned to work.

Several things to consider:

1) What type of DVD are you trying to burn? DVD+R, +RW, -R, -RW

2) What mode are you trying to burn it in - Data, Video, RW?

3) What applications do you have running while it's trying to burn?

4) How much Memory and how fast is your CPU?

5) Have you disabled your screen saver?

What specifically doesn't work with the DVD's you made?

1. The drive is DVD+RW, therefore I use DVD +
2. Data, and system backup
3. No other applications are running
4. 512 mb RAM, 2.6 GHz P4 HT
5. Yes

It either says at some point the disc is faulty or at the end when verifying
data, it says there was a discrepency.
