I am new to vista windows - home premium - only had it a few days and
already experienced problems. No help from MS as it was pre-installed in to
the laptop. Manufacturer sent me to MS discussion sites. I installed the
recovery disc under technical advice and it curred the error problem in
catroot2. Please can anyone advise on the following problems in Windows Mail
-
1. The automatic complete e-mail addresses when composing will not work
regardless of ticking the appropriate box and apply.
2.The inbox highlights the amount of new incoming mail but the outbox
doesn't highlight my in situ mail - I disabled the 'send immediately'
3. in the contact list, alongside my contacts, I have a blank contact cache
file named contactcoll.cache.
And does anyone know what has happed to the previous option in Outlook
Express of having ones contacts at hand in the left-hand side pannel?
I would be appreciative of any help you can provide. Ara (Julie)

1. The automatic complete e-mail addresses when composing will not work
regardless of ticking the appropriate box and apply.

The autocompletion of addresses uses a separate list of the last 29
addresses
you sent messages to, not the contacts list. This list is part of the
registry and
very hard to edit - it's easier just to send messages to the 29 addresses
you
want on this list. To turn it on, click on Tools, then Options, then Send.
If
there is no check mark in the box before Automatically complete e-mail
addresses when composing, click on this box, then Apply. Click on OK.

If you'd rather use the contacts list, open a new message and don't type any
part of the address. Instead, click on Tools, then Select Recipients in the
new message window.
2.The inbox highlights the amount of new incoming mail but the outbox
doesn't highlight my in situ mail - I disabled the 'send immediately'
3. in the contact list, alongside my contacts, I have a blank contact
cache
file named contactcoll.cache.

The contacts list is now reachable through a separate program, not through
Windows Mail. Shrink your Windows Mail window enough to make space
on the left. Then click on the orb, then Programs, then Windows Contacts.
Shrink the contacts window enough to fit into the empty space of the left.

Thank you for info - I will have to go away and digest the 'The
autocompletion of addresses uses a separate list of the last 29 - MS
certainly made a fatal error in replacing Outlook Express.
addresses'. In my message I mentioned that I already have the check box
ticked for 'Automatically complete e-mail addresses when composing. I
''Apply'' the setting but it doesn't work, unlike the superior OE.
