Error with blue screen o death

I am working on a comp that is networked at my office.
Employee says he is receiving error "Cannot write to read
only memory" which it then goes to blue screen or it is
on blue screen when it says that. I am receiving a lot
of log-on pop-ups when logging on as admin that say "We
have recovered your machine from a serious error" "Send
Error Report to MS?" Any clue, anybody?

Had a problem with a NT 4 Workstation some time back. I believe I swapped
out the memory, (or was it the video card, or NIC) ..... Cannot remember
which, and the problem went away. BTW - It appears, as the error states,
that some program and or device/setting is trying to write to ROM, not RAM.
