I HAVE A COMPUTER WITH XP HOME EDITION AND WHEN TRYING TO
BOOT UP I GET A BLUE SCREEN WTIH UNMOUNTABLE BOOT DEVICE.

I DO NOT HAVE THE XP DISK FOR IT CAME WITH XP AND I DID A
STARTUP DISK FROM ANOTHER COMPUTER WITH XP HOME AND IT DID
NOT WORK.

DO I HAVE TO GET A DISK AND START OVER OR IS THEIR A WAY
AROUND IT.

EVEN THE OPTIONS OF SAFE MODE OR GO TO LAST KNOWN GOOD
CONFIG DO ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD.

PLEASE ADVISE.......

.
borrow a retail cd or make the six boot floppies for xp
home(with or without sp1= different boot disks)

you need to try chkdsk /r from recovery console
so press r to repair with recovery console and then enter

chkdsk /r when you are at c: or c:\windows

take a look at this article from support.microsoft.com
