error stuck key 42 win 2000

Can anyone sort this out for me please, I've got to get back into my laptop as all my work stuff is on there but every time it boots up it gets stuck just when the microsoft start up tune comes on...and everything freezes. I've got an error message which is ERROR STUCK KEY 42 but that's as far as I've got - I can't even get into safe mode because it sticks at the same point. Anyone know what I can do
 
Gee... I've never seen this error before, but my guess is you have a Key
Stuck down on your keyboard.
Open it up and clean it...
