Windows XP Home Eddition

System sounds do not play. In control/panel/sounds and
audio devices: select sound and then play. Receive error
message Windows can not play the sound...Your sound card
may be in use. However, windows media player will play CD
music just fine just fine.

Sound Card is Creative Labs CT 4810. All drivers loaded,
Windows reports all functioning correctly.

I have the same issue with my sound device, but mine is an
onboard sound card, uses the Via chipset. Win98 uses the 4-
in-1 drivers off of the Via website, but WinXP gives me
error after installing those drivers that the drivers I am
attempting to install aren't designed for this platform.

the sound controller shows fine in device manager, but
when trying to play it says it is either in use, isn't
working right, or isn't installed.

It's the onboard sound that comes on the MS-6330 Microstar
K7T lite Mortherboard.
