Error opening Outlook 2002 referring to 'abnomanal termination'

I receive an error opening Outlook 2002 referring to 'abnomanal termination'.
It has something to do with C++, according to the header in the dialog box.

Typically, it will require a shut-down of Outlook, then two more starts
before it resumes working properly. Probably happens 2-3 times/day.

Any ideas?

Do you have any third party add ins that integrate with Outook?

Try starting Outlook in safe mode:

Start > Run > outlook.exe /safe
(note the space between outlook.exe and /safe)

Vista?

Start > Start Search > outlook.exe /safe
(same space)
