Any insight on why I keep getting this error message?
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'TEST', Account:
'pop.builderconsulting.com', Server: 'smtp.builderconsulting.com', Protocol:
SMTP, Port: 80, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

That server name is aliased to smtp.1and1.com. According to
http://faq.1and1.com/e_mail/setting...ook_outlook_express_and_netscape_mail_/1.html
that server only supports ports 25 and 587.

So, go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced,
then change port 80 to port 587.
Also, make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Enable the "My server requires authentication" option.

Hi Gary,
I have a similar problem. The following is displayed when I try to send mail:
The Host 'smpt.charter.net' could not be found. Please verify that you have
entered the server correctly.
Subject 'Chippewa Falls Duathlon', Account: 'pop.charter.net', Protocol:
SMTP, Port:25, Secure (SSL): no, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0X00CCOD

Thank you,
Tim Mrozinski

the outgoing server name should be
smTP.charter.net
instead of
smpt.charter.net

Tools - Accounts - (youraccount) - Properties - Servers
