Error on install of Outlook 2007 BCM / SQL Server Express: -1073741790

As part of the Installation of the Outlook 2007 BCM install, SQL
Server 2005
Express Edition attempts to install on my computer. The install file
name is "X13-40150.exe". The installation fails with the error
message:

"The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Installing
performance counters. The error is: -1073741790"

I've tried uninstalling all SQL Server components, and MSDE and tried
the install again. Same error occured.

I'm using Windows XP.

I don't know the answer. This problem has shown up in this forum
before, so you could search the archives for possible solutions.

The problem is specific to Sql Server. I would try installing it
directly. Download Sql Express Sp1 from Microsoft and try installing
that. It may give better diagnostics. And you can contact Microsoft
support. Given that this problem has been around, they probably have a
solution.

Installing SQL Server 2005 Express Edition standalone will not solve this
problem.

The error message that corresponds to error code -1073741790 is:
"Access Denied - A process has requested access to an object, but has not
been granted those access rights."

What permissions do you have on the machine?

I am a "Computer Administrator" on my Windows XP machine.

Is this the permission you are talking about?
