"unable to load RECAPI.DLL" this message appears after my Macafee virus scan
probably as the last item when booting; OS is WINXP home. The PC seems to run
OK, but slow. I attempted to use the disk cleanup routine on the C (primary)
drive and it would not run. Also, it took about 4 hours to defrag this drive.
(7.8 GB, 3.4 GB free). I don't know if the boot error is the cause or is
related, but any help from the experts would surely be most
appreciated.......Thanks (CinciDave for Mary Beth).

Hi,

Below is a workaround for the error you are seeing. Instead, I would
suggest uninstalling McAfee and installing a virus program that is
much more stable and will not cause any performance problems.
I would recommend using trying the Free Offer: eTrust EZ Armor
Security Suite from Computer Associates.

which defragmenter did you use? If it was the windows built in , you
could give it another try with any other third party defragmenter and
see if the problem was due to fragmentation. This could be a reason for
the PC being slow as well as the boot up problem.
