error mssg: Spooler subsystem App. encountered a problem

I recently started having problems with my printer,( zerox workstation
470cx), (using the xp drivers), and went to un/reinstall. It WAS showing two
of my only printer, with one print job pending. But it wouldn't let me delete
either the print job, or either printer, and also would not let me see
properties, or let me remove the printer from the windows remove programs
uninstaller. Now it shows no printers however. And it will not let me
install one.
The error message I receive after attempting any of the above is " The
Spooler Subsystem App encountered a problem & needed to close." ERROR SIG

After getting mssg I get the system dump. Thanks everyone in advance.
