I posted this at the Windows board, then realized there is
a IE only board! Hopefully the people here won't be mad I
am posting it here too, since the people here will probably
be better at solving an IE issue. Anyways......

Whenever I open Internet Explorer (version 6), and try to
visit any page, or when I sign on to AIM and have the
Welcome window open, it just shows this message. I also see
it is in the little ad space at the top of the AIM buddy
list. I have no clue what this is talking about. Has anyone
ever seen this before?

The only thing I can think of that would cause it, is that
my sister downloaded and installed "iMesh" which was just
loaded with Spyware. I cleaned it all out using Ad-Aware,
and today read that one of the programs, "new.net" isn't
supposed to be removed manually, or else it might mess
something up. Here is the exact quote from SpywareGuide.com.

http://www.spywareguide.com/product_show.php?id=417

"It is recommended that you use this to remove the program,
as explained in more detail in the New.Net FAQ. DO NOT
simply delete the DLL, as it tampers with the default
Winsock settings and manual removal will cause you to lose
Internet access."

Maybe that's the problem? I hadn't ever had this problem
before, and I didn't notice it until last night, and had
removed the stuff on Sunday, so I'm not clear on if that is
the cause.

What can I do? System restore to like Friday or something?
Will that even work? Any way of re-installing IE? Any other
ideas? (I tried downloading IE6 again, and installing it
again. The download page says to Remove IE from the
Add/Remove list, and it's not listed on there! I tried the
install anyway, to see if it would just write over it, but
nothing happened, I still get the same error message. I
also looked in the IE folder to uninstall, and there's no
uninstall file... How do I do it!?)

Thanks very much for any help!

Oh, and by the way, I'm using Mozilla Firefox and
everything is working OK, that's how I'm getting here to
post this message. It's not the end of the world if it
doesn't work again, but I just want to see if I can get IE
working in case it could somehow cause any future problems
(or in case IE is needed for anything else).

One last thing, I promise. :) Our other computer,
connected through the router (so it's on the same cable
line), is working fine, and has no problem using IE. So I
suspect it's something wrong with only this computer.

Anyone? I've already found that some websites don't
support Mozilla's browser, so I kinda might need IE.
Please help, any help at all would be really, greatly
appreciated. Thanks again.
