I cannot view my Tripod website (http://divine_providence.tripod.com) on
Vista Home Premium. At first I got : "This error (HTTP 501 Not Implemented
or HTTP 505 Version Not Supported) means that the website you are visiting
doesn't currently have the ability to display the webpage, or support the
HTTP version used to request the page."
And after using a Microsoft help page (Unchecking "show friendly HTTP error
messages," unchecking "use HTTP 1.1," unchecking "use HTTP 1.1 through proxy
connections") I'm getting the words "DNS Lookup Error" and it still won't
let me view anything on the site (pages, and even images stored there).
Other people have no problems viewing it. I also have another Tripod site
with no viewing problems either. *I* can see that one, just not the main
site.
I contacted my ISP and they found no problems with my system. I've
downloaded Firefox, thinking that it was IE, but I still get the same error.
I've contacted Tripod/Lycos and they said it's a "reliability and
compatability" issue with Vista. I've tried downloading every "Windows Vista
compatibility and reliability" fix, and when I go to run them, it says the
update is not for my system. I did all the "Internet Options" fixes that the
Microsoft help page suggested to get rid of the errors. And nothing has
worked.
I do not understand all the computer lingo. I just got this new computer 2
weeks ago with Vista Home Premium pre-installed and now I'm regretting
getting it because I cannot view/edit/update my main website at all, and
that's what I got the new computer *for.*
Please help.
