I just did a factory reinstall on my compaq pc that uses win98se , when i try
to do a live chat my IE shut down when i get to the screen to make contact my
ie closes & gives me an error sysinfo.dll , & send error message to
microsoft, IE closes down. Note before I did the reinstall I was able to chat
with no problems,I was also told in enable activex controls in the security
section of IE properties which I did. I also uninstalled ie 6 & reinstalled
same with the same results. I also used orig IE that was installed with the
factory reinstall & got the same results. ANyone have any idea on how to
solve this problem? Thanks

Try an overinstall of IE6 SP1.

First, close *everything* via CTRL+ALT+DEL except Windows Explorer (includes
your AV program, Scheduled Tasks, Screensaver, and going offline). Start >
Run > (type in) IE6Setup.exe > [OK]. Select Minimal - Custom; Select all
the parts you use (e.g., Outlook Express) but none that you didn't
originally download, and overinstall. Should take about 2 minutes. Reboot
the computer.

Now, with AV and all other running processes still closed, check in at
Windows Update for additional updates and patches you may need.

None of that info worked, so I uninstalled IE 6 & installed Mozilla & now I
can chat , thanks for the info.

You've probably got a funky Add-on running in IE.

Not really I uninstalled ie 6 & then reinstalled with minimum as u suggested
& when I tried to chat using ie 6 i got the same error, So to chat I use
Mozilla fox fire & it works fine, even without diabling my CA firewall.
