"Error" Message

Barry Karas

I continually (over the past month) receive this message when I go to
Outlook Express 6:

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was
rejected. Account: 'mail.adelphia.net (1)', Server: 'mail.adelphia.net',
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user name or password.',
Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number:
0x800CCC92

I never had a user name or password before, but apparently the people at MS
know what I want. Be that as it may, how do I set BOTH a password and a user
name?

Thank you,

Barry Karas

PS I have WinXP Pro w/ SP2

NO ISP allows access to their mail server without a username or password. I
suggest you contact adelphia net for some help.

If you don't want the account or you never set it then delete it or disable it :
Delete :
Tools > Accounts > Mail > Click Remove to delete.

Disable:
Tools > Options > Uncheck "Send and receive messages at startup"

Within OE, click Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers tab, enter a
User name and Password.. the ones you use to connect to adelphia.net.

Go to tools, accounts, the mail tab and set the user name and password
assigned by your ISP in the needed places. Has nothing to do wih MS, this
is your ISP.
