Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced,
then enable the SSL option for the incoming server, and change its
port number to 995.

If the same problem continues, which antivirus are you running?
Make sure your antivirus is not configured to scan emails.

S

spinduf

I went and changed the setting as instructed but this time nothing worked i
got this error message when trying to send

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Fw: ', Account:
'pop.mail.yahoo.com.au', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com.au', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Correct me if im wrong this is just an opinion but i dont think it is a
problem to do with the ports. I enter in my correct login details the login
box but keeps appearing teeling me to verify my username and password and no
matter how many times i enter in the details the box keeps popping up. I can
send emails with logging in using port 465 but it wont let me receive because
i cant login

Hi, check all your settings for those set out here: (WM is same as OE)
http://help.yahoo.com/l/au/yahoo7/mail/classic/pop/pop-08.html

Ensure that your Outbox is empty, delete any messages from it, or move them
to the Drafts Folder.

Send a test message to yourself.

When the log on box appears in WM requesting PW & UN always click cancel,
never OK.
Or WM wipes the settings.

Only ever enter your detail at tools>accounts etc, and as I say always
cancel the request pop up.

Get back with any error message.

The first time you posted, your error messages pertained to receiving,
which is the issue I addressed.
Your error message this time pertains to sending (SMTP).
Port 995 is not to be used for sending. It is for receiving.
Port 465 is to be used for sending.

Also, did you overlook the second part of my recommendations:
which antivirus are you running?
Make sure your antivirus is not configured to scan emails.

Kaspersky and have changed it to not scan my POP3 emails or emails sent or

Since the account may have been corrupted, I suggest you delete
('remove') it, restart Windows Mail, then recreate the account.
If you still get an error message after doing that, please post it here.

The only other recommendation I have is to do a trial uninstall of Kaspersky,
reboot, then try Windows Mail again. If no improvement, you can always
reinstall Kaspersky.
Instead of uninstalling your antivirus, consider upgrading to Windows
Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly
intrusive antivirus programs.
