error message won't allow incoming emails

every time I log onto my outlook for emails all the connections work except
it won't allow me to receive any email. The user name and password
continually pop up and even after entering it declines as an error.

You'll need to provide more information such as your version of Outlook, your
email environment (Exchange or POP3), if you use a PST and what size it is,
and what the error message is including any error number(s) to start with.
