Title :Windows File Protection

Files that are required for windows to run properly have
been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain
system stability, windows must restore the original
versions of these files.

Insert windows xp home edition service pack 1 cd now.

-----------------------------------------------------

I havn't tried inserting the xp home cd yet because last
time i ended up losing everything on my harddrive.

If anyone knows how to fix this without losing any files
I would greatly appreciate your help.

You need to give it the CD and let it replace the files that it needs to.
If necessary, hold the left Shift key down while the CD drive spins up. This
will prevent it from autostaring.

If it says it can't find the files that it needs, and SP1 was installed from
Windows Update, point it to the Windows\ServicePackFiles folder.
