Error message 'outlook not responding' & outlook hangs in tray

Outlook hangs in my tray after downloading e-mail and I get error message
'Outlook is not responding. If you are using an Exchange e-mail server
account, you can cancel pending server requests by clicking the Outlook icon
in the notifications area, and then cliocking Cancel Server request on the
shortcut menu'

So, are you using an Exchange server? What's your version of Outlook?

I am using Outlook 2003 11.6359.6408 SP1. I don't know what an exchange
server is. I just log on to my ISP email account as I have always done for
the past 5 years.
