How I can I fix the error message in outlook 2003 that a connection to the
server could not be established.

Make a connection to your server before you start outlook? ;)

You've got something in your mail profile hosed up, check the services
and makes sure you've got everything right. Without some more
information from you on your actual setup, that's as good an answer as
you'll get...

Always more words than help.
