Error message during install of XP Pro

Hi all,

Get the following message when trying to install Windows XP Pro.
"unexpected error (1684) at line 5218 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c."

Machine had XP Pro installed & stopped working yesterday and was suggesting
a missing config file. Client asked us to rebuild/repair. Tried to repair &
got above message so tried a reinstall & still getting same message. Searched
the Microsoft site but no luck & web searches are proving fruitless.

Any ideas?

WinXp installation probs are usually as a result of;
1) cd damaged
2) cd drive faulty
3) iffy memory
4) hardware problem

and since the PC was initially faulty then 3 & 4 seem possibilities

Found the problem Was a dodgy ORB drive. Working fine now
