XP Pro installation problem

I'm trying to install XP Pro on an DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra D motherboard
(brand new system). I get the following error:
An unexpected error (xxxx) occurred at line 5118 in
C:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\setup.c Press any key to continue.
Pressing a key produces no results. It seems to be frozen. If I reset the
machine, the installation hangs further on.
I've installed XP Pro on this MB model without problem before. The only
difference this time is that I've got an AMD Athlon64 X2 Dual Core 3800+
I've tested the memory (2 GB Kingston). It's fine. Does anyone know what
might be bringing up the error? Is it a file copy error? I'm a bit at a
loss as to where to start with troble shooting. I'm installing from a
slip-streamed XP PRO with SP2 and I've used the CD for other installations.
I tried the original XP CD but got the same error message.
TIA
Michael

Also, I just realised I had posted the error message from a KB article, not
mine - mine is ever so slightly different - don't know if that matters:
An unexpected error (32769) occurred at line 5199 in
D:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c
Thanks
Michael
