error message :Business Contact Mgr couln;t complete last task"

Whenever open a new email, task, calendar event, my address a contact i n my
address book, I ge the error messge "Business Contact Manager could not
complete your last action or actions"

Waht causes this, waht can i do to get rid of error message, My address book
is working fin, this just started afew days ago, so i obviously hit something
that caused this but don't know what, i just want it to go away.

Please help & thank you

I too am receiving this error and can't figure out why.

I have a brand new install of WinXP SP2 and a brand new install of Office
2007 Small Business.

When I load outlook it all works fine until I do anything with BCM. After
that point, every time I move to a different folder or do anything, I get the
very same erroro message.

It's driving me CRAZY!!!!!

Does anyone know what is going on?

This error is the generic BCM error--i.e. if they don't have a more
specific message BCM will default to this one. So the the more details
you provide, the more likely it is someone will realize what's going
on and suggest a solution.

OK,

Installed fresh copy of WinXP Pro SP2

Installed all windows updates and patches through Windows Update

Installed Office 2007 Small Business

Install BCM from Disc 2 of Office 2007

NOTE: No office beta versions were installed either.

Imported my .pst file from my previous version of Outlook 2000, which
contained emails, calendars and contacts.

Even before manually entering in any "business contacts" in BCM, I started
to see the error message appear..

If I launch Outlook 2007 and not invoke any BCM functions than the error
does not show up. But as soon as I go into BCM and then go back to my inbox
for example, the error message starts to show up each time I move to another
folder or go to another secton such as Contacts or Calendar.

I also tried reinstalling SQL 2005 Express from disc 2 of Office 2007. The
install went fine, except I did get a warning on install saying my hardware
did not meet minimum requirements. This was odd since I am using an IBM
Thinkpad T42 with a 1.6 GHZ Centrino and 1.25 GB or RAM. The install did
complete successfully. This action did not make the BCM errors go away though.

That's about all the details I can think of... Does any of this provide any
clues?

Do you think maybe doing a full uninstall/re install of Office 2007 might
help?

It could be that your Outlook 2000 .pst file has a reference to an earlier
version of BCM. Try removing BCM from the .pst by selecting the a folder in
that .pst from the Main Outlook window. From the menu, select "File | Data
File Management...". Look for and remove the "Business Contact Manager"
Data File. Then shutdown Outlook, log off of Windows, log back on, start
Outlook and re-add BCM using the "File | Data File Management..." menu item
and clicking the "Add..." button.

I actually did not have BCM wiith my old Office 2000 install.

I would like to try to back up my data and reinstall Office 2007. I can
easily export my outlook content into a .pst file, but I can't see where to
backup the BCM database. The instructions say to go to the "Database Tool" on
the BCM menu, but I don't know where this is. There is no entry for this on
the standard toolbar while in the BCM section.

Could you please tell me how to back up my BCM database?

The BCM database is typically in this directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data
\Microsoft\Business Contact Manager

Copy any .mdf files to your backup media.

OK, I backed up my BCM database files and also exported my outlook content
to a .pst file.

I then Uninstalled BCM and SQL server through 'Add Remove Programs'

Then I ran disk cleanup and rebooted the computer.

Upon reboot, I reinstalled BCM & SQL from the Office 2007 Disc 2 CD.

Rebooted once more and launched Outlook.

The error message is still appearing every time I try to switch folders.

Is there some kind of log file I can look at to get some kind of sense of
the origins of the problem?

Also, I can't find a tech support number to call Microsoft about this issue.

I paid good money for this software and don't feel I should be made out to
be a beta tester, nor left out in the cold when issues arrise.

There are actually several other issues I have seen in the software that
make me believe it did not go through a proper QA processs but I will save
them for another post.

You are a genious ! After spending hours on this problem searching the Web,
visiting the various Microsoft help sites, and reinstalling ffice 2007 with
BCM, all to no avail. There are hundreds lot of postings out there
experiencing this problem, whatever it is as the error message is
meaningless, but nobody has found a solution apart from yourself. I followed
your cear instructions and bingo, the problem is solved. Thanks

I got this generic error, battled with it for almost a week...installed,
uninstalled software, activated SQL bla bla bla....my solution came from
http://blog.lunaflare.net/, I should deactivate th Google
add-in...idiotic,specially after spending hours and hours on the problem, but
it worked!
let's see when the next bug will come along.
below i incldd what solved it for me...so far,at least.

Google Desktop + Microsoft BCM = Sucks

I just updated my Google Desktop to version 5.1.0703.05398-en-pb and guess
what? Yep, that's right it crapped out Outlook with the stupid Business
Contact Manager error message on launch:

Business Contact Manager for Outlook could not complete your last action or
actions. Please try again.

This results in BCM not being available, which screws with my contact
manager (address book). The solution? Just disable both the Google Add-In and
COM Plugin (Tools » Options » Other » Advanced Options... » Add-In Manager...
and COM Add-Ins...). Just uncheck both Google things and you can use BCM
again. I wonder if this means Google Desktop won't index my mail?

I tried to go to (Tools » Options » Other » Advanced Options... » Add-In
Manager...
and COM Add-Ins...) but it wasn't there...from Advanced Options I only see reminder Options, Custom Forms, and Service Options...I went into all of them, and could not see the Add-In Manager...

I'm having a similiar problem, but I don't have the google desktop (I'd
recommend that everyone who does look up the Google Desktop Security
Leak...very scary). I suspect mine is cuase by the Google Maps add-in for
calendar items...

Found it! It's in the Trust Center options under tools in Outlook 2007, at
least for me...
