Error loading operating system

Ok. I have a computer that is really starting to worry me.

We got a DVD player here at work, and decided to install it in a PC that is
mostly unused. After Installing, I went to install the software, and was
shocked to find that the drive had 4MB space. I decided that it's old 13GB
drive needed an upgrade (also am planning on doing CPU). We had a 40GB drive
laying around, so I got that out.

I loaded up a copy of Ghost, and started a Disk-to-Disk copy, and it all
worked. Then I tried loading up the new drive. It didnt want to work right -
it kept giving me a Disk size of 2GB once it passed the POST test/BIOS
Setup... (Later, I found I could run the drive in LARGE mode to fix that)
So, I decided to chuck in the old disk again, and sort out why it didnt
work. I dont know why, but for some reason the old disk would load like
normal, the freeze just before any piece of windows 2000 started to load.
All that was on the screen was a flashing, oversized, cursor. This was when
I got worried. I chucked the old disk in a spare computer, and ghosted a
backup of it.

Now, I downloaded the Seagate software, adn Zero-Filled the 40GB HDD. the
Full Fill. The one that took hours. After that I re-ghosted the old HDD onto
the New one. Then, whenever I loaded up the old HDD or new HDD, I was
getting errors like "Missing Operating System" and "Error loading operating
system". I tried every single tool, every guide on the MS site to fix it. I
tried to fix Windows 2000. First I repaired. Fail. Then I i did the
Install-Repair option. Fail. Finnaly, I decided re-install. Fail. Every
time, it kept comming up with "Error loading operating system". I downloaded
a Bios Update (almost applying the wrong one...) and all that seams to do is
fix the problem i was having with LBA and LARGE mode for the 40GB HDD.

How can I go about fixing this error. Anyone. There is no (reasonable)
length I wont go to, to try to fix this...

Hi Alan

I had a similar problem with Norton Ghost 2003 once i removed the HDD of
the computer connected it to another win 2k box and then went to the
Comupter Management and then rightclicked the New drive and then selected
Mark Partition Active then i reghosted it and then it worked for me i guess
this should help you..
