Error loading operating system

I hope you can help me. Here is my problem:
I have a HD with few partitions. In the first one I've installed
Ubuntu(Linux), and on the second one keep my Windows 2000 Professional. Now
the only way I can boot windows is with a floppy disk with ntldr,
ntdetect.com and a boot.ini like this
[default]
timeout=30
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)...partition(0)

So I tried to repair Windows 2000 with the installation CD. Then I get to
the console, and execute FIXBOOT and FIXMBR. But no I cannot log on my
windows 2000.
When I try to boot from HD, the following message appears: "Error loading
operating system". And now i cannot even logon with the floppy.
How can I fix my computer to start Windows 2000, don't care about Ubuntu,
don't want to delete either.
Thanks

You write "I cannot even logon with the floppy". What exactly
happens when you try to boot with the floppy disk?

The message say something like:

Can't load systemroot\system32\ntos...
Copy the file

I don't remember the name of the file. Then I tried to use the recovery
console to replace the file or test if exists. What a surprise, It seems
FIXMBR || FIXBOOT *****ed* up "D:\WINNT", "D:\Documents and Settings". This
is getting worse. How can i fix the partion.
Have I completely lost my user files?

It seems your partition numbers have changed. Modify the
number in partition(x) of boot.ini, making it 1, 2 and 3.
There are usually two references to partition in boot.ini.
Keep booting with your floppy disk until successful, then
post again.

I'm back again, last weeks I've been busy. But now I *fixed* drive with
Partition Doctor.
I will explain all the problem and actual status:
In the begin I have:
-One hard drive with 4 partitions (C:,D:,E:,G:)
C:(Fat32) with Windows 98 (I think here was the boot)
D:(NTFS) with Windows 2000 (The one I want to save)
E:(NTFS) some data
G:(Fat32) more data

Summertime: I decided to install Ubuntu replacing my old Windows 98.
Ubuntu boots cool but Windows 2000 can't. "NTDLR Missing" Message. The
only way to boot is with a floppy disk.
Then using Win2000 CD I run FIXBOOT, and FIXMBR. The D: gone
innaccesible. I fixed with Partition Doctor. D: is now accesible but I
cannot log into¹. So finally after making a backup(I've should have made
before) I tried to install win2000 over the old installation(now C:),
but installation complains about it's not a windows 2000 compatible
partition. Is something about not being the first partition?

I need help with:
-Login into windows 2000 again
-Re-installing boot sector, windows, what ever is necesary to normal
function.

Thanks in advance. Hope you can help.

¹:When I use floppy to boot, the system starts *normally*, sesion (start
up sound) and log outs (bucle). Note: I use autologon.
