Error installing SP2

Som time ago, my computer had some kind of light crash, probably a virus. I
repaired the system, but som things became never fully restored. When I start
the computer, it boots up normal, but then stops when it has come to the
light blue start up screen. It stays silent for a couple of minutes and then
continues to boot. Strange.
Worse is, that it is impossible to reinstall SP2. When I do, the
installation seems to go fine. But when it's finished and reboots, the start
up only goes to the black start up screen with the windows logo and the green
bar. Then the computer clicks, and reboot from the beginning again. And
again. And again.

Then I need to use the system repair again. But the start up is still slooow
and the SP2 is not working.

Very thankful for a solution!

In the installation log for SP2, it is clear that not everything in the
installation process goes well. However, it is to long for the message limit
in this forum

Best regards,

Are you installing from a cd or from windows update, the cd would be preffered.
Also,before you install SP2,go to run,type:cmd In cmd type:CHKDSK C: /F
Agree to restart, then type:EXIT Install SP2 For slow start up,R.click my
computer,properties,advanced,start up-recovery,in the OS window,the last
words should read "fast detect" after SP2 you'll find more, edit, delete all
new.
You can/could also get microsoft BootVis for quicker start ups, you'll have to
get it from 3rd party though,in BootVis,select "Trace" then optimize system.
