Constant Restart after Install of SP2

Hi I am trying to install SP2 onto my Uncle's computer. When the
computer finishes and restarts we will make it all the way up to setup
is finishing and then the computer restarts, over and over again. I
don't know what it is about SP2 but we can't install anything else
until SP2 is on the system. Any ideas would be appreciated.

"Computer finishes and restarts",then you return to "setup is
finishing"...Thought
pc already finished..Actually at 1st restart you should get "Turn auto
updates"
option screen.You might try,install xp cd,boot to xp cd,recovery,press
enter for
password,select 1 For C: Type:CHKDSK C: /R When its thru,type:Fixboot
Agree,type:EXIT Let xp start.Or at xp cd boot menu screen,select install xp,
"repair this copy" You'll only loose xp updates,all user data is preserved..

I had this recently and it came down to the simple fact that the older
motherboard BIOS did NOT work with sp2. Have you updated the BIOS to
the latest version?

The board I was using was too old and I had to stick with sp1 even
after a BIOS update.
