Error in Reinstalling SP3

I installed SP3 with no problem, however I had an unrelated issue using
msconfig and one of the steps to correct was to uninstall SP3. Now I can't
re-install SP3 without errors. I get an error " The requested lookup key was
not found in active activation context". Any idea on how I can fix the
problem.

Perform system restore to the point before problem occured or before
installing SP3.
 
There is some commentary on the web on this error message (google on the
entire text) which suggests a relationship with IE7. You might want to
uninstall SP3 and then rollback to IE6, reboot and install SP3 before
reinstalling IE7. But take a look at commentary on various forums by doing
the search.

Your suggestion worked. Everything is working.
I went to the earlierist restore point, pressed the button and it worked.
