Error for .net update

G

Guest

I get an error message when I tried to download the .net update (there are
two others to download after that one).

The update downloads, then initilization stops and the error message says:

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id=0x58c(1420), Thread id=0x468(1128)

Then asks to terminate or attach a debug application.

I am not too computer knowledgable, but does anyone know how to fix this? I
cant install the ATI Catalyst without the .net update.

Thanks, Appreciate the responses

Dmoler,

Sorry, I haven't been around to continue to help you

The reason why the ID has changed slightly is because the computer system
has allocated it differently, that's all

Do you know what the process is giving that ID?

What does the Event Logs say? START | CONTROL PANEL | ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS |
EVENT VIEWER

Muddle

C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.42_x-ww_0de06acd
Copy all three dll's in the above folder to these folders.
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727
and
C:\WINDOWS\system32
the error should go away.
Their seems to be a problem with the installer.

Muddle,

You seem to have issues with version 2 of the Framework not version 1

Version 2 Redistributable Page:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...CB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en

Direct Download:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/6/7/567758a3-759e-473e-bf8f-52154438565a/dotnetfx.exe

The error shows Visual C++ .NET 2005 to be the cause - at least the runtime
files it uses

The updates use the Windows installer which can be downloaded here:

With Validation:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FC-5F56-4A38-B838-DE776FD4138C&displaylang=en

Bypass Validation (direct to download):

http://download.microsoft.com/downl...af996f46/WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe

Please post back
