Microsoft .NET Framework Error Messages

When i try to update .net framework on the windows update
website, i get the following error messages:

Error
Fatal Execution Engine Error (0x7926fcd8)

When i click OK, i get this error message:

SL1.tmp Common Language Runtime Debugging Services
Application has generated an exception that could not be
handled.
Process id = 0xc64(3172), Thread id = 0x418(1048).
Click OK to terminate the application.
Click Cancel to debug the application.

When i click Cancel, i get the following error message:

SL1.tmp - No debugger found.
Registered JIT debugger is not available. An attempt to
launch a JIT debugger with the following command resulted
in an error code of 0x2(2). Please check computer
settings.
cordbg.exe !a 0xc64
Click on Retry to have the process wait while attaching a
debugger manually.
Click on Cancel to abort the JIT debug request.

Any ways to fix this problem? (the error messages change
every time i try to update, i.e. the heading for the
second message will read something different like
SL23.tmp, SL5.tmp, etc. Also, the process and thread id
numbers will change).
