Cannot update .NET 1.0 SP3 and .NET 1.1 SP1

Didn't know where to post these errors.
I have winxp pro sp2.
I've made WinUpdate including SP2 (it was presented in
Winupdate list ! - rare thing !)
Problem: cannot install two items in list: .NET 1.0 SP3
and .NET 1.1 SP1.
Error: "Application has generated an exception that could
not be handled" after downloading and trying to install.
Specific data:
For .NET 1.0 SP3: Process id=0x2e4 (740), Thread id=0x2c0
(704)
For .NET 1.1 SP1: Process id=0xc7c (3196), Thread
id=0x4d0 (1232)
Same errors if the two items are downloaded manually
as .exe files (not via winupdate).
All the other updates are ok.
