I have a Dell dimension 3000 computer here. My friends kids did some
downloading that may have caused the problem.
We are getting the blue screen of death and cannot access safe mode or any
other selection that is available on this screen.
Does anyone know what the 0x8236ce30 code means?
Any information would be very helpful.
We would like to get this up and running again.
We do have the original windows 97 installation cd.
Thank you

This is an XP newsgroup yet you talk about a Win 97 (presumably Win 98) CD.
What system do you have on the PC?

It means the kids downloaded an appliction not compatoble with the Operating
system/hardware or a viral application.

If you really what we think you have Windows 98 or 98SE you can restore the
computer by stating the Boot Menu and select command prompt and use this
command:
scanreg /restore a blue pop-up will come up and you can select a point
which set by date to an earlier date before the installation of these
programs!.
Then the computer will reboot and give you the normal boot options to select
and boot up the machien to normal.

But if we are talking about XP machine you can boot into last good known
configuration that worked.
