Error 800: unable to establish a VPN connection

Hi,

I am having problems connecting to the office network. I have a windows XP
Home Edition laptop with SP2. The VPN connection was working fine 3 days ago
and previously but not now. When I try to connect to the network I get the
message: "Error 800: Unable to establish VPN connection. The VPN server maybe
unreachable."

- I have tried recreating the VPN but to no avail.
- I am using a wireless network to connect to the internet and then using VPN.
- I have tried other wireless networks and then VPN too but to no avail.
- I have just tried the VPN connection on another 2 laptop's and desktop PC
and it works fine with the same wireless networks.
- Windows firewall is turned off.
- I am creating the VPN through Network connections > Connect to the network
at my workplace > etc etc................
- The VPN connection has already worked for this user on their laptop but
all of a sudden it has stopped working..
- User has Windows Defender and AVG anti-virus software on his
laptop..However so do all other laptops and PC's and it has not made a
difference there....

Any ideas? Any settings to check?

Do a simple test. Can you telnet port 1723?

But the thing is.. my desktop PC at home connects to the VPN fine and I
have also managed to connect to the VPN on 2 other laptops.. In fact this is
the only laptop having problems which suggests to me that the VPN server is
fine...

Is there anything on the laptop that i can check? etc? Thanks
