Setup cannot continue. Contact Microsoft tech support.
Error=535FF58h. I want to istall xp on my son's
computer. He is currently running windows 98 2nd ed. he
has 64 mb ram, pent 2, 83% system free, 32 bit file system
and 32 bit virtual mem. What do we need to do to install
this without errors? thanks

First, you should realize you are at the bare minimum necessary to run XP
and it will likely run quite slow on that setup. Second, before trying to
install, while at the 98 2nd edition desktop, place the XP CD in the drive,
when the setup screen appears, select "Check System Compatibility."
Anything you find in the report it generates can be the cuase of XP setup
stopping.
