As have others in this group, I have been plagued by
error 1606. I referred to the various knowledge base
articles (eg. 315352) and have found, like others, that
it is completely unhelpful since the Common
Administrative Tools does not even appear in the User
Shell Folders folder. This has been verified to me by
Microsoft phone support with whom I have spent literally
hours trying to solve this problem, to no avail. I THINK
THAT IT IS A SCANDAL that Microsoft has basically ignored
this problem for over a year as far as I can tell from a
Google search. The last postings in this group indicates
that this problem has not been replied to except for the
completely misleading references to the knowledge base
articles which can only have been posted by people who
have not had to solve the problem themselves.
