ERROR 1500. Another installation is in progress.

I uninstalled the program via "Add/Remove Software". Now I want to reinstall
but in get:

"Error 1500. Another installins is in progress. You must complete that
installation before continuing this one.

Any ideas on how to correct?

If Engel's references don't help--can you say whether you've done a restart
of the system and this error still comes up?
