Error 1327. Invalid Drive C:\

Hi,

Help, I'm in a panic! I've been using FP 2003 for several years, I am not an
expert but have got along ok with it. The other day I downloaded the trial of
the new Expression Web. After checking it over I came to the conclusion that
yes, it seems a great new version, but having thought a lot about it I
decided that for the time being I could not afford the price. So, I decided
to uninstall and revert to the tried and trusted FP 2003, problem....

When I tried to open up FP 2003 again I received the following message:

Error 1327. Invalid Drive: C:\

When I had a system crash about 18 months ago I nearly lost everything and
had to have a new drive installed. The guys who did it for me named the drive
G: not C:

I looked at the list of programmes on the G: drive and could not see FP 2003
at all. I can only think that the uninstall of Expressions Web took
everything else with it!

I tried to re-install FP 2003 from the original disc which I have and got
the same error message:

Error 1327. Invalid Drive C:\

So now I am completely stuck! I have "googled" the error message, and
although there are a number of instances of it I could not see anything that
clearly helped me to resolve this devasting issue.

I'm hoping that someone will have a bit of wisdom that will help me solve
this.

I await any responses with much interest.

Regards,

Alan

Steve,

Very many thanks for your quick response.

By the way, probably not the 'scentific, way to do it but before I received
your reply I tried re-installing Expression Web to see if it would put back
what had disappeared and would you believe it I can now access both FP 2003
and Expression Web. I have to be honest and admit that when I said that the
programme had disappeared I had not thought to look in the Office 11 Folder
which is where I eventually found everything, but in a folder in the
Programme list that simply said Frontpage. That must have been from the
version I used before (FP98), as I said in my first post, that was empty.
Sorry if I misled you.

However, with having re-installed Expression Web, and now having the link
back to FP 2003, what do you think went missing when I uninstalled Expression
Web earlier today? And, now that I have FP 2003 back, if I was to uninstall
Expression Web again how should I avoid the same problem that I have already
experienced?

I am truly grateful for your thoughts on this.

Regards,

AlanF
