every day i get this error (Error 0x8050800f) which shows after i bring my
computer out of screen saver mode, and sign onto the welcome page. this
seems to occur if i have a scan scheduled to run, but the computer is left
alone and the screensaver activates (i have the option selected in windows to
return to the welcome screen from the screensaver). anyone have a fix for
this yet?

Not exactly sure what you are asking. I have one administrative account and
two limited user accounts set up on windows. Windows defender was installed

I have my account as administrator, my wife (limited user) and a guest
account. If my wife is logged on, switches user and I log on without her
logging off and it stays in that state, then I get an error in the morning.
If there is no one logged on, or only one then no error on my machine. The
event log shows the scan was performned at the prescribed time, but as soon
as I log back in at the hello screen, then I get the error and it is logged
in the event log.

Very strange, I don't think it handles multiple users logged in at the same
time well.

Additional info to help solve the "error 0x8050800f" problem.....in windows
defender, under "tools" - "general settings" I have the choice for "allow
users who do not have administrative rights, etc......" unchecked. Just as
in your case, I think the error occurs for me when my administrative account
is logged on, and my wife's limited account is also logged on, and possibly
when the screensaver activates while both accounts are logged on (with
"display the welcome screen" when you exit out of screen saver is also
selected), and the scheduled scan runs.

I see this error every day on a Windows 2000 Server with a user always
logged on at the console, and also a user always logged on via Terminal
Services--the same user.

I haven't observed that it affects anything--scans still happen, updates
work, real time protection is fine.

I have that option box checked. The program seems to work fine, scans and
updates occur without problems.

Why would say the program works fine? In your last post, you stated that you
were getting the error message also. Regardless of the error message, the
program does still scan and update, but it still is giving the error message
and should be fixed.

The latest update must have fixed this issue, I no longer see this error when
I log on in the morning.

i just got the error again about a half an hour ago (11:30pm) when i logged
into the welcome screen to my admin account.....have 2 limited user accounts
logged in also. scheduled updates and scan were done at 6:00pm.
