Error 0x80004005

Hello,

I receive mail of my imap-account with windows mail since a week (Vista
Ultimate).
When I receive mail after startup, it works fine, but after a while, when I
try to receive it a second or a third time, I get the error-message
0x80004005.
I read, that this error can result by wrong configuration of the
email-antivirus-scanner. I use AVG and have disabled the
email-scanner-plugin.

Why does it work fine the first time after startup and not further?

Thank you,

Chris

We often need the entire error message, not just the error number, to
offer much help. Click on it and copy it to your next message. Don't
worry if it's in a foreign language - we'll try to recognize at least parts
of it anyway.

Did you use the standard install for AVG? If so, it sometimes helps to
uninstall it, then do a custom install where you tell it to leave out the
part that scans email.

Here the entire error message - in german:

Die Übertragung der Kopfzeilen aus dem Ordner "Entwürfe" wurde nicht
abgeschlossen. Konto: 'Chris GMX', Server: 'imap.gmx.net', Protokoll: IMAP,
Serverantwort: '', Port: 993, Secure (SSL): Ja, Fehlernummer: 0x80004005

I don't recognize a problem. We have a shortage of IMAP experts in this
newsgroup, so you may have to wait for someone else to help.

Your settings (as evidenced by the error message) look fine.
AVG's email scanner can cause problems even when disabled.
Uninstall AVG, then reinstall using the 'custom' install option,
which gives you the opportunity to decline installation of the
email scanning module.

If that does not fix the problem, I'm fresh out of ideas since I
have very little experience with IMAP troubleshooting.

Hello,

thank you for your advice. I deinstalled AVG and installed it again without
the e-mail-scanning-module. Now all works fine!

Thank you,

Chris

Thanks for your feedback.
It feels good to be told that the advice we give out is effective.
