Erratic Stand By Feature

The Stand By feature on my Dell Dimension 4550 with Win XP Home (SP1) is
behaving strangely. When I invoke it (from Start menu), the screen blanks,
but in about 3-5 seconds, the system reactivates. The Hibernate, Turn Off,
and Restart features work fine. This is recent behavior and thee only
changes I've made recently is to update the BIOS from the Dell site.

This is not a crucial problem as I can always invoke Hibernate, or wait for
the power settings to put the PC in Stand By (that works!)

Any ideas appreciated.

Power saving features originate in the BIOS and are activated by Windows.
Sounds to me like their new BIOS update might be the reason. However, just
let them know: don't downgrade back to the previous BIOS unless you
experience other more serious problems. They might fix it in the next BIOS
update.
