Hi,
Some times I can send email and sometimes not.
When I can't I get this error (which seems to be
generated by Outlook, not by external mail servers):
"The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
Bob Jones <[email protected].> on 3/4/2004 6:34 PM
553 sorry, that domain isn't allowed to be
relayed thru this MTA (#5.7.1)"
Sometimes I can "fix" the problem by closing Outlook and
reopening it. Sometimes even rebooting doesn't make a
change.
My system:
XP Professional, 3 weeks old on new IBM notebook.
Multiple email accounts.
Default is IMAP incoming mail server and SMTP outgoing.
Others are same SMTP outgoing as for default.
When sending works it doesn't matter whether outgoing
server is setup for authentication or not. Works both
ways.
When it doesn't work, message immediately appears to send
and leaves "Outbox" into "Sent" box. Number of bytes
sent via modem doesn't change. Error message instantly
appears in inbox.
Logging into IMAP requires VPN connection.
Dail-up ISP is Earthlink (not using them for outgoing
server).
XP's Internet Firewall Connection is enabled.
Incoming mail is fine.
Many thanks,
Duncan
