Hi all. This is a bit complicated.
I am a physician who accesses the hospital network by VPN usually using IE6
(6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633). One facet of our access is the ability to
review electrocardiograms online as PDF files (opened in a separate IE6
window).
Sometime with maybe within the last 6 months, I lost the ability to see
these files online, getting a 'this page cannot be displayed' error. After
beating my head against the wall for an extended period time with only
marginal help from tech support, I finally figured out that this was related
to a security update and when I removed it the problem resolved.
I recently upgraded my motherboard and despite clear instructions, my tech
friend updated all the windows security patches for me and I have again lost
this ability. (Interestingly, both Opera and Firebird still allow me to see
the files.) I have no idea which patch is responsible. I considered removing
all of them but the warnings regarding loss of functionality are pretty
impressive and I thought I'd look for a better way.
Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
