Security Update KB944533 (MS08-010) - Continual Installation (XP Pro,IE6)

J

Jeffrey Walton

Hi All,

Another problem with the latest IE patch. Microsoft XP Professional,
IE6 Hardened Browser. Both are fully patched.

Automatic Updates continually reports that MS08-010 [1] requires
installation. This is despite the fact that the Application Log
reports a successful Installation*. I've also performed an
installation through IE6 | Tools | Windows Update, and manually
downloaded and installed the patch. I've installed and run the User
Hive Profile Cleaner [2] with No Joy.

Any Ideas? I have only found two reports of issues in Usenet [3,4],
neither of which seem to apply or help.

I have the same issue. KB944533 repeatedly appears in the updates list. I
finally removed it from Add/Remove, thinking MS Update Scan would catch it
but it doesn't. So, I'm looking to see if I can manually install it.

This has happened before, and I try to ignore it after installing it a few
times, but it becomes obnoxious and I'll delete it... not the best move, I
know!
