Can't install Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (832894)

I have IE 6.0 (version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633,
128-bit, SP1, Q330994) on a computer with Windows XP. I
can't install "Cumulative Security Update for Internet
Explorer (832894)". I've tried multiple times. I've
followed all the instructions specified for Windows XP
that is listed in "Microsoft Knowledge Base Article -
822798". The methods I didn't do were Method 6 (not
necessary) and Method 7. On Method 8, "NO LIABILITY
ACCEPTED" certificate has expired. If that's the problem,
how do I get a non-expired version?

When I try to install "Cumulative Security Update for
Internet Explorer (832894)", I get the message "The
software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo
testing to verify its compatibility with this version of
Windows."... if I install the patch through a download
instead of through Windows Update, I get the extra
message that "INF Intall Failed. No signature was found".

Ok... I tried your recommendation to no avail. So I
decided to try a radical approach. I deleted the entire
Windows XP partition. Then I reinstalled Windows XP Home
edition on that drive. I created two user accounts. I
installed my Toshiba Cable Modem. I ran ShootTheMessenger
from Gibson Research (www.grc.com). I downloaded the
HOSTS file to block spyware and help prevent viruses
(www.mvps.org/winhelp2002). Then I tried installing
832894 from WindowsUpdate. It worked fine. On reboot, I
tried installing XP SP1a. On reboot, it just kept
rebooting before the Windows XP Logon screen. Since
there's no way to recover from this situation, I tried
the whole process again. I got the same results. I
repeated this several times just to make sure. I even
tried using NTFS instead of FAT32. Finally, I repeated
the entire process except I didn't install 832894. I
managed to get XP SP1a installed but now I'm back to the
problem originally described. I can't install 832894! I'm
at a loss. I'm highly concerned with security issues.
