Equation Editor - can I stack two symbols vertically?

In MS Equation Editor, is there a way to "stack" two items on top of one
another, without a line between them?

I want to enclose two variables in parentheses one above the other, roughly
like this:

/ \
x
n
\ /

The parentheses are simple, but I can't figure out how to stack the two
items vertically, except with a division line between them, which is not what
I need.

Thanks.

On the EE toolbar, the rightmost button on the bottom row is for Matrix
Templates, which is what you want.

Thanks. You're exactly right, of course, and I'm a little embarrassed that I
didn't realize that.

I saw that button, but put it out of my mind. It's probabably because for
me, since I've studied mathematics, the mathematical concept of "matrices" is
in a different mental category than the concept of "combinations", which is
what this notation represents.

/ \
x
n
\ /

You have to put aside considerations of "what it's for" and think about
"what it does" (wrt formatting). <g>

Another solution is to just press Enter after typing the top item.
