Epson C80 not printing from new cartridge

C

Cri

Greetings all,

I have an Epson C80 printer that recently ran out of black ink. So, I
purchased the Epson recommended cartridges and replaced the black one.
The Windows Epson utility shows a full black cartridge. However, now
whenever I print, not a single drop of black ink comes out. I've done
20+ print jobs and 10+ head cleanings, alignment tests, etc. and still
nothing. I've taken the cartridge out and shaken it. No dice.

How can I tell if I got a bum cartridge or if something is wrong with
the printer? I've read the manual and gone to Epson's website and have
not had any luck. I called them too, but they wanted to charge $10 to
my CC before I could even ask a question. :/

This same thing had happened to me previously while changing the
cartridges, but after a few print jobs it always seemed to work itself
out....

Thanks in advance to all who reply

Chris

Make sure you have removed any tabs that need to be removed prior to
installation, to open the air holes, or a vacuum can develop in the
cartridge.

Stylus C80 ink cartridges does not have any tabs that need to be
removed.

I'm not an expert, just a former C80 user. I found mine went bad on 3rd
party cartridges so I called and they replaced the whole printer. Go to the
Epson site and don't look for help, just for their repair / replacement
phone number. You have to answer a lot of trouble shooting questions to get
it if I remember right.

They wanted a card to bill in case I didn't ship the non-working one.
Afterward the new one worked adequately until I decided to upgrade to H-P.
If you have a print job of 10 pages, the C80 and H-P are about equal but on
a job of 100 pages, the C80 will give a few partial pages and blank pages
occasionally but H-P prints error-free.

If you know anybody who wants a used working C80 I'm giving mine away for
free as long as the recepient buys my unopened ink at retail or $50.
Shipping for whatever it costs.

Actual quotes from "Kirk W. Fraser" <[email protected]>:

It is responsible to conclude that Mormons have erectile gods
because the religion is evil and since it is evil, it must be
prayed out of existance like the Rajneeshe cult. I pray thus
since my experience with their demonic attack and hope you do
too. To interpret an erect male god in context of pagan
religions who view females as symbolic of firtility, So the
bigger Mormonism grows, the closer it gets to its mother
(Rev. 17:5) and her pimp, the Pope. The Pope is the ultimate
Ithyphalllic god and I suppose Hinkley is in there somewhere
in spiritual homosexual union, ultimately screwing the Lord's
sheep out of their walk with Him. The demonic attack I had
from the book of Mormon came after I sent a post card addressed
to the Mormon Pope with my suggestions after the recent tornado
in Salt Lake City. Probably someone in their hierarchy read
it and sent the demon through their channel into my house.

The book of Mormon is worthless. I don't see why they spend any
time on it, especially since there is no longer the origional
gold sheets or as I recall even a rubbing to prove they once
existed for professionals to translate and confirm or deny the
authenticity of. As a shallow reflection of Jesus' testement,
it should be discarded. To focus on the book of Mormon does
in effect take away from the faith of those who spend their time
on what is primarily an expensive gospel tract. I laugh at you.
Your prophet is your pope. I offer myself as proof that your
prophet has less understanding of the scriptures necessary
to reach perfection than I do.

Thanks, I don't own any so I wasn't sure one way or the other.

Do you know how they keep the ink from drying out when the cartridge is
in storage? Is it the nature of the packaging?

The newer chipped cartridges allow you to take them out and let them sit and
they won't dry out. Students at RIT carry their cartridges around with them
to use in school lab printers with no problems.

The cartridge is packaged just like any other EPSON ink cartridge, in
a vacuum sealed plastic bag.

The 'newer' cartridges that include separate black with a colour cartridge
containing three or more colours have non-return valves. They can also be
removed from the printer.
